Tolstoy was born in 1828 in “Yasnaya Polyana” a family property in the south of Moscow. This prominent writer lived in this house and moved from it many times during his life. Lev lost his parents as a child, and his aunt took care of him.
Tolstoy was not successful at university, and one of his professors described him as "unwilling to learn." He spent several years gambling and having fun before enlisting as an artillery officer to join the Crimean War. Tolstoy married in the early third decade of his life. The life of Tolstoy and his wife was not easy, and they had many arguments over various issues. During this period, Lev grew a very long beard and decided to spend most of his time in his study. There he wrote several incredibly successful and enduring books, including the novels “War and Peace”, “Anna Karenina”, and “The Death of Ivan Ilyich”.
In the collection of literary, Atonement and Other Stories, five stories of the world-famous author Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy have been published.
